Why gate automation?

Automated gates are popular with both commercial and residential properties. They add much more convenience and safety compared to manual gates. Before automated gates became available to the masses, gates would have to be opened manually.

This could be seen as an inconvenience if you have a gate that is designed for your car to enter your garden. Rather than having to leave your car to open it manually, automated gates allow you to enter your garden without needing to leave your car. Automated gates do all of the work for you, and as a result, they are becoming popular with both commercial and residential properties.

Automated gates also have an extra security feature that manual gates don’t have. Technology has already been introduced to both commercial and residential gates and keypads or sensors with fobs are commonly used in order for you to gain access. Intercom systems are also a common feature on automated gates and they allow the owner or resident to accept or reject whoever is at their property.
Whilst keypads, fobs and intercom systems offer great security for your and your home, it seems security could step up a gear in the future.

How to safeguard Automated gates

Badly designed and installed electric swing gates and sliding gates have caused significant injuries and even death.I t is important to understand the potential dangers from electric gates that have not been installed by qualified installers aware of the safety issues and best practices.

What Are The Risks?

The risks that electric gates pose depend on how gates move through their surroundings in relation to pillars, posts, walls, railings, fences and other gates. Risk is also created with the possibility of moving gates come into contact with a vehicle or person. Electric gates can cause impact, crushing, drawing in, hooking, shearing and cutting injuries.

How Can The Risks Be Reduced?

A qualified installer will use a safety audit to identify the potential risks and propose systems and procedures for gate use that eliminate as many as possible. They will ensure that access to areas where risks are present or can be created is restricted or eliminated and that users are educated about the potential dangers.

Equipment that may be included in safe gate design include physical guarding to prevent access to risk areas, electronic safety beam photocells before and after the gate and pressure edges on the gates and other system elements. Signage that explains safe operation of the gates can be included and all electric gate installations should have manual release systems and users should know where the manual release key is kept. These allow the gate motors to be disconnected from the gate so that the gate can easily be moved manually in the event of power failure, breakdown or emergency.

What’s The Best Way To Keep Gates Safe?

One of the simplest ways to ensure on-going safe operation of gates, within the parameters established through the safety audit, is to keep them working optimally. Electric gates should ideally be serviced annually or twice a year depending on how frequently they are used and the safety devices that have been installed. Safety devices such as photocells and pressure edges should be regularly checked to ensure correct operation.

Connected home is always smart home

in  a  Human  body,  there  are  five  senses  which  are  the  point  of  first  contact,  at  the  periphery,  thereafter  the  process  of  identifying,  defining  and  forming  a  perception  with  physical  organs  of  and  through  a  body,  followed  by  the  process  of  transmitting  and  finally  processing  that  information / perception,  to  reach  a  conclusion  and  finally,  making  a  decision  in  the brain  of  any  action  to  be  taken;  similarly  a  Connected  Home  system  has  the  same  structure.

·         Sensors –  Wireless  Sensors  to  detect  and  measure  things  in  a  Home
·         Controller –  A  PC  or  an  iPad  or  a  custom  made  Home  automation controller,  as  a  gateway  to  monitor,  manage  and  control
·         Actuators – Physical parts  or  Hardware  of  a  machine  which  is  attached  to  a  specific  unit  in   a  Home,  to  make  it  functionable,  such  as  motorized  valves,  motors,
·         Buses – Wired or  Wireless  Buses  which  carry,  to  and  fro  communications,  from  an  to  each  connected  device,  hardware,  machine,  which  can  be  a  system  which  is  wired  or  wireless  or  a  combination  of  both
·         Interface – The brain  of  a  Connected  Home,  which  is  a  software  system  which  receives,  identifies,  analyzes  and  defines,  information  of  all  activities  on  and  through  all connected  devices,  and  decides,  commands  and  transmits  order(s)  to  that/those  device(s),  machines,  hardware  what  to  do,  which  eventually  enables  a  Home  Owner  to  take  necessary  steps
As  laid  out  in  the  fundamental  concept  of  a  Connected  Home,  its  primary  goal  is  to  keep  a  Home  and  the  Home  owner  and  their family,  and  all  units (such  as  the  lighting  system,  appliances and  all  Connected  ones,  and  integrated  into  the  One  Home  Automation control  system)  Safe,  Secure,  Intelligent,  Caring  and  Proactive,  in  a  user  friendly,  Simple  and  swift  manner,  in  real  time,  with  ease,  comfort,  convenience,  saving  the  Home  owner  Time  and  Money,  and  giving  an  assured,  confirmed,  tangibly  proven  Peace  of  Mind,  which  didn’t  exist  till now.
